In Maryland --- There is a two (2) day waiting period for the issuance of a marriage license so please do not wait until last minute. The marriage license is good for up to six (6) months from the date of issue. You must obtain the license in the county you are going to be married. Please check with your venue to verify the county in which they are located.

In Virginia --- There is no waiting period and you may obtain your license from the Circuit Court in any county in the State of Virginia. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days.

In the District of Columbia --- You must wait 3 full days from the time of application before the marriage license maybe issued. Give yourself more time D.C. is prone to delays. The license can be obtained at Moultrie Courthouse 500 Indiana Avenue, N.W., Room 4485

Washington, D.C. 20001 The D.C. website does not state how long marriage licenses are valid for so please check with the court.

In West Virginia --- There is no waiting period. West Virginia residents must obtain their license from the Circuit Court in which they reside. If you are not a resident please contact the Circuit Court in the jurisdiction in which you will be married. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days.
